EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

My name is Timothy Odom and I have just completed my pursuit of  a Bachelor's Degree in Business from American Military University. I sought out a Bachelor’s Degree in Business because my wife and I have also set out on a homesteading journey to become more self-sufficient, expand our skill sets, acquire a healthier lifestyle, and save on our grocery expenses. With this being the case, we became interested in the idea of starting a small business farmstand to share our homestead with our local community and make a little additional money, which is why I chose to major in Business. At our farmstand we will sell chicken eggs, sourdough, baked goods, fruits, vegetables, jams, and homemade cleaning products and toiletries. We would also like to eventually incorporate the chickens, turkeys, hogs, and cattle that we are raising and raising for butcher as part of the farmstand profit.

Throughout my undergraduate experience to receive my Bachelor’s degree I managed to complete many courses regarding business basics, marketing, law and ethics, and accounting. Within these courses I worked to establish a solid, well thought out business plan as to how our business will be organized, managed, and operated. My decisions made thus far have led me to solidify our business financing and our plan to manage finances as well as our location, branding, procedures, products, pricing, distribution, and marketing. Once the business is up and running I am aware that many decisions will arise, some of which I already know will be pertaining to customer relations, promotion strategies, unanticipated procedural needs, adjusted product inventory and pricing in accordance to consumer behavior, and marketing strategy adjustments. Lastly, which was my largest motivation in seeking a Bachelors Degree in Business, is that if we are fortunate enough to have our small business successfully take off and expand I feel prepared for what is to come primarily in relation to legal requirements and expectations.
